Abstract: Extra cellular vesicles (EVs) are small vesicles secreted or shed from cell membranes in circulating and body fluids and play a key role in intercellular communication. EVs can provide biomarkers for atrial fibrillation (AF) diagnosis, risk stratification and assessment and can be used as drug delivery vehicles for potential targeted therapies of AF.

Key words: atrial fibrillation, extracellular vesicles, miRNA, biomarkers, targeted therapy
