Abstract: Betatrophin is a novel factor which regulate the glucose and lipid metabolism. Human betatrophin is located at chromosomal position 19p13.2, and the murine gene is present on chromosome 9. This is a highly conserved gene. Human betatrophin protein shows 73% identity and 82% similarity to the murine protein. It is predominantly expressed in liver and fat, and plays a great role in glucose and lipid metaboslim.
