Abstract: Sestrins constitue the protein family which are evolutionarily consvered and stress inducible, they suppress the oxidative stress and regulate adenosine monophosphate-dependent protein kinase (AMPK)- mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling and protect cells and organisms from stress and age-related physiological abnormalities.Hypoxia and ATP deficiency induce Sesn2 expression.Sestrins regulation of blood sugar homeostasis is physiologically impotant.Sestrins also contribute to the attenuation of aging and suppression of age-associated diseases.
