Puerarin Reduces Ethanol-induced-Apoptosis of Spermatogenic Cells in Rat Testis

Abstract: 0bjective To investigate whether puerarin could protect against ethanol-induced apoptosis of spermatogenic cells in rat testis.Methods 30 S.D adult male rats,were randomly divided into three groups: normal control group ,alcohol group and puerarin group. At the 40 day, Bcl-2 and Bax of spermatogenic cells of testis tissue was checked by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry; Apoptosis of spermatogenic cells was determined by TUNEL. Results The results of RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry indicated that Bcl-2 and Bax of spermatogenic cells were no significant statistical difference between group B and group C(P>0.05),but there was significant statistical difference between group A and group B (P<0.01). Apoptosis of spermatogenic cells in group A were significantly higher than group C. Conclusion Spermatogenic cells could generate apoptosis by changing the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax. Puerarin could inhibit this damage of didymus by alcohol.
