Abstract: It was recently reported that hypoxia-inducible factor 1(HIF-1) regulates related downstream gene expression, thus promotes angiogenesis, proliferation, metastasis and inhibits apoptosis, then increase the quantity of effective myocardial cells and improve ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction. This may provide a novel strategy for the therapy of ischemic heart disease.
Key words: hypoxia inducible factor 1, stem cells, ischemic heart disease
