Recent advances in the regulation effect of TRPM family in cellular calcium / magnesium homeostasis

Abstract: Melastatin-related transient receptor potential (TRPM) channels belong to the transient receptor potential(TRP)channel superfamily. All the members are permeable to Ca2+ and Mg2+ except TRPM4 and TRPM5. TRPM1, TRPM2, TRPM3 and TRPM8 are regulators of Ca2+ and magnesium homeostasis, TRPM6 and TRPM7 are key regulators of Mg2+ homeostasis. TRPM channels are distributed widely and activated by multiple stimuli. They play fundmental role in regulating cellular calcium / magnesium homeostasis and other various cell biological processes.
