Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of febuxostat on blood rheology and platelet activation in patients with gout and hyperuricemia. Methods Sixty-eight cases of patients with gout and hyperuricemia were collected in our hospital from April 2015 to March 2017. They were randomly divided into the control group (35 cases), received allopurinol treatment, and the observation group (33 cases) treated with Febuxostat. The clinical effects, blood rheology and the changes of platelet activation function were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the improvement of blood rheology and platelet activation function in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Febuxostat therapy can effectively reduce uric acid level in patients with gout and hyperuricemia; improve blood rheology and platelet activation function in patients with gout and hyperuricemia, and the curative effect is better than that of allopurinol.
