Abstract: Plasma lipoprotein (a) is an important risk factor for cardio-cerebrovascular disease. Levels of lipoprotein (a) in plasma show widely heterogeneity, and the pathogenic risk of lipoprotein (a) is associated with apolipoprotein (a) gene polymorphism and phenotypic polymorphism. However, there are lack of effective therapy drugs and methods to lowing the lipoprotein (a) levels, but it is undeniable that lipid-lowering therapy is of great benefit to reduce the risk of the development of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.

Key words: lipoprotein (a), polymorphism, cardio-cerebrovascular disease, lipid-lowering therapy
