Advances of the CCN family in fibrosis

  • Received:2013-04-03 Revised:2013-05-21 Online:2014-03-05 Published:2014-02-27

Abstract: The CCN family consists of six members, namely Cyr61(CCN1), CTGF(CCN2), NOV(CCN3), WISP-1(CCN4), WISP-2(CCN5) and WISP-3(CCN6). Extensive research shows that the CCN family plays an important role in the process of fibrosis. As fibrotic inhibitors, CCN1, CCN3 and CCN5 could inhibit fibrosis; while as fibrotic promoting factors, CCN2 and CCN4 could promote fibrosis.
