Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation of P73 G4C14-A4T14 polymorphisms in the exon 2 to susceptibilities to cervical carcinoma. Method The P73 G4C14-A4T14 polymorphisms were genotyped in 218 cervical carcinoma patients and 220 healthy controls in Chinese Hans Residing in Southern Anhui by two-step PCR-CTPP and sequencing. Meta-analysis was performed to assess the reported association between the P73 polymorphisms and cervical carcinoma. Result The distribution of P73 genotype and allele frequencies in cancer patients and controls were not significantly different. The results of genotyping by two-step PCR-CTPP were consistent with those performed by DNA-sequencing. The meta-analysis of 3 studies in Asia showed the AT allele was associated with cervical carcinoma (P<0.05). Conclusion: P73 may be a susceptibility gene for cervical cancer in Asian population, and AT alleles may increased the risk for cervical cancer.
