Abstract: Insulin resistance (IR) is the pivotal link between metabolic disorders and atherosclerosis (AS). Insulin resistance plays an important role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, and its underlying mechanism involves complex pathophysiological processes including endothelial injury, inflammatory reaction, and oxidative stress. Insulin resistance markers presented the potential association of metabolic risk with atherosclerosis and the detection of insulin resistance markers may support strategy development for the clinical management of cardiovascular diseases.
