Abstract：OBJECTIVE To study the macroscopic and microscopic identification of Isatidis Radix, and offer reference for grade classification, standard drafting and market supervision of this drug. METHODS Sixty-one batches of Isatidis Radix samples were collected from different habitats in China. Then, the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of different samples were observed, digitized and compared using stereo-microscopic and optical microscopic methods. RESULTS The Isatidis Radix samples were divided into six different types based on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Combining with the monograph of Chinese Pharmacopeia and the related literatures, the grading standard of Isatidis Radix was preliminarily established. CONCLUSIONT The method is simple and reliable and can provide reference for the grade classification and standard research of Isatidis Radix.
