Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To provide a method of quality control for Gongning granules (preparation of Chinese materia medica). METHOD: Thin-layer chromatography was employed for qualitative identification of the herbs of Sanqi, Huangqin, Baishao, Gancao and thin-layer chromatographic scanning was used for content determination of ginsenoside Rg1 in the preparation. RESULT: The spots of ginsenoside Rg1 on the TL plate had a good linear relationship between its content and area within the range of 1.1 g6.6 g. The average recovery was 98.18%, and the RSD was 0.9%. CONCLUSION: The method of qualitative identification for the herbs (eg. Sanqi) and quantitative determination for ginsenoside Rg1 can be used for quality control because of their convenience, accuracy and good reproducibility.
