Introduction of the Certification Management System for Continuing Professional Development of Licensed Pharmacists in Australia and Its Enlightenment to China

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To introduce the organization system and certification management system of continuing professional development(CPD) for licensed pharmacists in Australia, and to provide reference and ideas for improving the management of CPD for licensed pharmacists in China. METHODS By combing relevant literature, official policies, reports, etc., the requirements of laws and regulations, management subjects and certification management of CPD for licensed pharmacists in Australia were introduced, the problems existing in the management system of continuing education for licensed pharmacists in China were analyzed, and targeted suggestions were put forward. RESULTS The CPD management organization system in Australia is relatively clear, and each management subject has a clear division of labor and coordination. Have a relatively complete CPD activity certification management system and process. And formed a perfect feedback mechanism for CPD activity evaluation, which effectively ensured the continuing education effect of licensed pharmacists. However, the subject of continuing education management of local licensed pharmacists in China is rather confused. The curriculum and activities of continuing education lack a unified standard system, and the evaluation and feedback mechanism of continuing education has not been established yet, which makes it difficult to guarantee the quality and effect of education. CONCLUSION It is suggested to learn from relevant Australian experience and combine with China's national condtions. In the aspect of top-level system design, improved the relevant laws and regulations system of licensed pharmacists, and improved the supervision and management system of continuing education. In terms of teaching institutions and curriculum management, formulated scientific and unified standards and procedures for selecting teaching institutions, and dynamically adjusted continuing education courses and activities. In the aspect of supervision and evaluation, strengthened the supervision and quality evaluation of teaching process in teaching institutions, and strengthened the effective connection between registration and continuing education.
