Studies on the Tissue Distribution of Intravenous Emulsion of Garlic Oil in Rats

OBJECTIVE To study the tissue distribution of intravenous emulsion of garlic oil(GO-E) in rats. METHODS A single dose of GO-E or Go-INJ was administered to 36 healthy rats via the jugular vein. The tissues of heart ,liver,spleen,lung,kidney and brain were acquired at 5, 30 or 60 min after administration. GC-ECD was used to determine the concentration of DADS or DATS in the tissues of rats. Controlled by garlic oil injection(GO-INJ) ,the comparative stadies on the distributions of the tissues in the heart, liver, spleen, lung,kidney,brain were performed. RESULTS The distribution of DADS had an advangtage in rat tissues after the administration of two formulations. DADS and DATS of two formulations were distributed in lung,kidney,brain and heart at 5min after administration. The distribution of two components of GO-E in liver was more than that of GO-INJ. The total concentration of DADS and DATS of two formulations were gradually reduced in tissues at 30 min after administration. The total concentration of DADS and DATS of GO-E had an advangtage over that of GO-INJ at 60 min after administration. CONCLUSION Compared with GO-INJ, the residence time of GO-E was longer in tissues. GO-E possess an effect of sustained release to some extent. The effect of passive target is not obvious.
