OBJECTIVE to study chemical constituents in roots of Uraria crinita. METHODS The compounds were isolated by means of column chromatography on sinica gel,DIAION HP20,Sephadex LH-20 and ODS. Their structures were elucidated by physicochemical properties and spectra. RESULTS Fourteen compounds were obtained and identified as β-sitosterol(1),octadecanoic acid(2),palmitic acid(3),β-daucosterol(4),(24R)-stigmast-7,22(E)-dien-3α-ol(5),2-(acetylamino)benzoic acid,methyl ester(6),betulin(7),m-hydroxybenzoic acid(8),5,7-dihydroxy-2'-methoxy-3',4'-methylenedioxyisoflavanone(9),sucrose(10),sophoradiol(11),genistein(12),genistin(13),and silybin(14). CONCLUSION Compound 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,13,and 14 were isolated from the plant for the first time.
