OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of Paeonia lactiflora Pall.METHODS The compounds were isolated by various column chromatography and identified by physiochemical properties and spectral analysis.RESULTS Five compounds were isolated and identified as 9-ethyl-neo-paeoniaflorin A(1),(1R,2S,4R)-trans-1,8-cineole-2-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(2),(1S,2S,4R)-trans-2-hydroxy-1,8-cineole(3),gallic acid(4)and ethyl gallate(5).CONCLUSION Compound 1 was new natural compound,and compound 2 and 3 were isolated from this plant for the first time.
