Ultrafiltration of Propylene Glycol Alginate Sodium Sulfate (PSS) and Comparative Study on Anticoagulant of Subfractions

OBJECTIVE To study the anticoagulant activity of propylene glycol alginate sodium sulfate (PSS) and its ultrafiltering subfractions.METHODS PSS was fractionated through ultrafiltration and a series of fractions were obtained with different average molecular weight (Mr) and distribution coefficient.The anticoagulant of Subfractions was evaluated by PT/APTT/TT.RESULTS Compared to the material,subfractions had significant difference on Mr,lesser distribution coefficient and similar degree of sulfation.The anticoagulant of subfracitons was decreased with decreasing Mr.CONCLUSION Ultrafiltration is an effective method for fractionating polysaccharides.The anticoagulant of sulfated polysaccharides is related to the Mr markedly.
