Explore an integrated pattern of profession and humanity for otorhinolaryngology education

Abstract: Objective To explore a new pathway of otorhinolaryngology training which combines medicine and humanity and made balance between the two systems. Methods The content of humanity and history was added into the classic courseware and class discussion. Then the effects of this new model were evaluated using a system for evaluation of otolaryngology teaching qualities. Results Otorhinolaryngology training with the new model was highly applauded by students, especially in the aspects of innovation and motivation. Improvements were needed for anatomy and the class atmosphere. Conclusions Combination of medicine and humanity motivates the students a lot and build their consciousness of humanity, which facilitates their self-regualted learning. This new education model is worth more promotion and popularization.
