Abstract: Intestinal smooth muscle cells (ISMC), as an important part of the gastrointestinal tract, play an important role in intestinal peristalsis, colonic transport, and intestinal homeostasis. Structural and functional changes of ISMC are involved in the pathogenesis of intestinal inflammatory diseases, which always accompanied by symptoms such as intestinal hyperfunction and intestinal stenosis. It can provide a hypothesis about intestinal inflammatory diseases clinical treatment to illustrate the role of ISMC in intestinal inflammatory diseases.
