Abstract: The hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is the third endogenous gas messenger in recent years and widely exists in the body. H2S reduces the ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and apoptosis and restores the protective effect of ischemic post-conditioning on I/R injury in the aging ischemic cardiomyocytes. Its mechanism is mainly related to the reduction of oxidative damage, up-regulation of autophagy and maintenance of protein homeostasis.
