Factors affecting quality of life after radiotherapy in patients with cervical cancer

Abstract: Objective To investigate the quality of life and its influencing factors incervical cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Methods This study included 205 patients with cervical cancer diagnosed and treated by Peking Union Medical College Hospital from December 2013 to December 2018. The Clinical Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Cervix V4.0 (FACT-Cx V4) was used to assess the quality of life of patients, and collect demographic data including age, education, marital status, family status, occupation, etc.; treatment data including clinical stage, treatment, etc., using Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal -Wallis test and other statistical methods to analyze the impact of various factors on the quality of life of patients with cervical cancer. Results The total quality of life of patients with cervical cancer who were included in the study was 109(93,123), including 18(15,21) for physical status, 20(17,23) for social/family status,18(16,20)for emotional status, 16(11,21) for functional status, 37(32,42) for additional attention.Age (p<0.05), end of radiotherapy (p<0.01), family status (p<0.01) and marital status (p<0.01) were factors influencing the quality of life of patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy. Conclusions The quality of life of patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy is affected by many factors. The complications related to radiotherapy should be actively treated, and the education and rehabilitation guidance should be strengthened to improve the quality of life of patients.
