Medical professionalism in healthcare providers in China: A nominal group technique research.

Abstract: Medical professionalism has been valued globally. However, Western frameworks of medical professionalism may not resonate with Chinese cultural values because of communication and social issues. Furthermore, there were seldom researches taking other groups rather than doctors and nurses into consideration and it is hard to get quantitative results in traditional discussion group. It was the first time that we use Nominal Group Technique in Chinese medical education research. Participants from Peking Union Hospital and Peking Union Medical School were sorted into 13 occupational groups, each discussing and ranking categories of medical professionalism.
