Abstract: SIRT5, a member of Sirtuin protein family, is mainly located in the mitochondria and involved in multiple forms of protein post-translation modification, such as deacetylation, desuccinylation and demalonylation, regulating energy metabolic process, cellular redox reaction and apoptosis and thus shed light upon the basic function of SIRT5.

Key words: SIRT5, posttranslational modificaion, lysine desuccinylation, lysine demalonylation
