Abstract: Diabetic nephropathy is one of the important complications of diabetes mellitus. Although the mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy are not fully understood, recently a large number of studies demonstrated a role of epigenetic factors in the development of this disease. Among them, microRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to be functionally important in the progression of diabetic nephropathy, such as maintaining the normal function of podocytes and the homeostasis of extracellular matrix.
