Abstract: A case of morbid obesity patient who presented high fever and respiratory failure early after receiving laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding was reported in this article. Related literatures were also reviewed on the abnormal inflammatory response in obesity individuals including preoperative chronic systemic low grade inflammation and up-regulated inflammatory response due to surgical stress after surgery further to reveal the reason that obesity patients had higher postoperative complication rate, especially for respiratory complication.
