Abstract
OBJECTIVE To isolate and identify the chemical constituents in gorgonian Verrucella sp.METHODS Chromatography and recrystallization were performed for the isolation and purification, the structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis in association with physical and chemical properties. RESULTS Seven compounds were isolated from the CH3COOCH2CH3 extracts of gorgonian Verrucella sp., their structures were identified as junceellin(1), praelolide (2), cholesterol(3), (E)-N-2-(1,3-dihydroxy octadecan-4-en)-hexadecamide(4), thymine(5), thymidine(6) and batyl alcohol(7). CONCLUSION All the compounds were isolated from the gorgonian for the first time.
