Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the mechanical properties of film from acrylic polymer Eudragdit EPO which was prepared by a casting method. METHODS Tensile testing was used to determine tensile strength(σ), tensile strain at break (ε) and modulus of elasticity of the film(E). The ratio of tensile strength to tensile strain at break(σ/E), relative surface energy (σ2/2E), work at break(W) were calculated. RESULTS Parameters as σ,ε,E, σ/E, σ2/2E and W was used to evaluate mechanical properties of film from acrylic polymer Eudragdit EPO.CONCLUSION The drying temperature, film thickness and concentration of plasticizer affected the mechanical properties of film significantly, while the film-formation time did not. The study might be helpful for coating process and formulation screen.
