Abstract

OBJECTIVE To explore the application of monolithic-column to specific chromatograms analysis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). METHODS The fingerprint determined by HPLC-UV HPLC system equipbed with the monolithic-column was compared with the fingerprint from several conventional particulate columns by various gradient-elute methods, respectively. Radix. glycyrrhiza, Salvia miltiorrhiza as well as Radix et rhizoma rhei. were selected as samples. RESULTS The monolithic-column system obtained equivalent or higher resolution than particulate columns, while consumed 50% or less time. CONCLUSION It can be concluded monolithic-column is helpful for the specific chromatograms analysis and quality control of TCM, especially in the analysis efficiency, the development and conversion of the analysis method.
