Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the anti-tumor activity of the water-soluble crude proteins from Trachyrhamphus serratus.METHODS MTT assay was used to evaluate the inhibitory effects of the crude proteins on proliferation of cancer cell lines.Cell cycle and apoptosis of A549 cells were analyzed by flow cytometry.Apoptosis induction was also proved by electrophoresis and morphologic assessment.RESULTS The IC50 values of the crude proteins for L1210、CCRF-CEM、A549、LOVO cells detected by MTT assay were 1.86,1.56,0.88,1.74 g·L-1,respectively.Moreover,the crude proteins induced apoptosis in A549 cells.At sub-cytotoxicity concentration,the crude protein showed synergistic effects with methotraexate (MTX) and mitomycin(MMC) in A549 cells.CONCLUSION The crude proteins from Trachyrhamphus serratus have anti-proliferation effect and induction of apoptosis in tumor cells in vitro.
