Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the synthesis route of strontium ranelate,an antiosteoporosis drug.METHODS Strontium ranelate was synthesized from citric acid via decarboxylation,esterification,cyclization,alkylation,hydrolysis and salification.RESULTS The structure of strontium ranelate was confirmed by IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR,the total yield was 42.6% approximately.CONCLUSION The synthesis route was simple,low cost and could be used in industry.
