Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the chemical constitutents in the roots of Asparagus officinalis for obtaining a more comprehensive understanding on its effective components.METHODS Compounds were separated by column chromatography with silica gel and Sephadex LH-20,whose structures were elucidated by spectral analysis and chemical evidence.RESULTS Four compounds were isolated from the EtOH extract.Their structures were identified as:(+)-nyasol(1),3′-methoxynyasin(2),syringaresinol-4′,4″-O-bis-β-D-glucoside(3) and syringaresinol-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(4).CONCLUSION Compound 1~4 are isolated from the plant for the first time.
