Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy of Cefepime in the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia.METHODS:Forty-two patients were prospectively randomized to receive Cefepime (18 patients)or ceftazidime (24 patients).Antibiotics in both the test and the control groups were given intravenously with the dosage of 2g every 12 hours for 8~10days.RESULTS:The overall efficacy rate of Cefepime and ceftazidime were 94.4% and 91.4% respectively. The bacterial clearance rate were 90.9% and 78.9% respcetively.CONCLUSION:Cefepime and ceftazidime were safe and potent antibacterial agents in the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia.
