Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To compare experimental therapeutic effect of two topical drugs in two animal models. METHOD: The authors used two kinds of animal experimental models, mouse vaginal epithelium in estrus cycle and mouse tail scaled epidermis to assess the effect of clobetasol-17-propionate and triamcinolone acetonide on epithelial mitosis and epidermal keratinization respectively. RESULTS: There is not significant difference between clobetasol-17- propionate and triamcinolone acetonide about inhibiting the mitosis in mouse vaginal epithelium (P>0.05). There is significant difference between clobetasol-17-propionate and triamcinolone acetonide about promoting the formation of granular layer in scale epidermis of mouse tail (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The effect of clobetasol-17-propionate and triamcinolone acetonide on epithelial mitosis are similar. Their effect on promoting the formation of granular layer in scale epidermis of mouse tail is that clobetasol-17-propionate is better than triamcinolone acetonide.
