Studies on chemical constituents of Trifolium pratense

OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of Trifolium pratense L. . METHODS The constituents were isolated and purified by chromatography with silica gel column and Sephadex LH-20 gel column, then identified by physicochemical properties and structurally elucidated by spectral analysis. RESULTS Eight compounds were obtained from Trifolium pratense L. and identified as 1-octadecanol (Ⅰ), 5-hydroxy-7,4′-dimethoxyisoflavone(Ⅱ) , biochanin A(Ⅲ) , prunetin(Ⅳ) , formononetin (Ⅴ) , genistein (Ⅵ) , ononin (Ⅶ) and daidzein (Ⅷ) .CONCLUSION Compound Ⅰ and Ⅱ are found in this plant for the first time.
