Abstract:Folate is a water-soluble vitamin. Deficiency of folate may not only lead to abnormal neural tube development in the embryo, but also affect brain function. This paper reviews the association of folate deficiency with depression, anxiety, obsessional disorder, schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders, as well as the effect of folate supplementation on adjuvant therapy for psychiatric disorders.
