Abstract�� OBJECTIVE To investigate antiviral activity of Qingyandiwan on common respiratory trace virus including HSV-1�� ADV11 and influenza virus FM1 (Flu). METHODS MTT Colorimetric assay was used to evaluate the direct repression�� invade inhibition of Qingyandiwan. The antiviral effects of extract of Qingyandiwan on influenza virus FM1 were observed in chick-embryo culture and ICR mice. The death rate�� lung index�� pulmonary pathological changes and the spleen index were observed. The spleen T and B lymphocyte proliferation experiment were carried out. RESULTS ��Qingyandiwan inactivated HSV-1 and ADV11 directly and inhibited the virus invading into cellur. The result of direct repression effect were as follows�� IC50 was 201.66 ��g��mL-1 and TI was 14.05 for anti-HSV-1, and the IC50 was 523.76 ��g��mL-1 and TI was 4.68 for anti-ADV11. The results of cellular inhibition effect were as rollows�� the IC50 was 213.39 ��g��mL-1 and TI was 11.49 for anti-HSV-1, and the IC50 was 400.88 ��g��mL-1 and TI was 6.69 for anti-ADV11. ��Qingyandiwan showed significant inactivation of influenza virus FM1 in chick-embryo cu1ture. ��The mortality rate of the model wasn��t reduced��P>0.05��. However�� the live time was prolonged significantly (P<0.01). The anti-inflammatory effect on pneumonia was observed�� and the immunological cells were irritated which proved Qingyandiwan had strengthening function on immune system. CONCLUSION Qingyandiwan showed significantly inactivation activity on influenza virus FM1 in vitro and strengthening function on immune system of mouse models. The empirical study of antiviral activity on HSV-1 and ADV11 showed that Qingyandiwan could inhibit and inactivate HSV-1 and ADV11 directly.
