Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of controlled-release dinoprostone vaginal suppositories for induction of prolonged pregnancy. METHODS A total of 60 pregnant women were randomly divided into two groups and treated with controlled-release dinoprostone and oxytocin respectively. The primary outcome were vaginal delivery within 24 h and the satety of newborns. Ridit test and 2 test were used for statistical analysis. Furthermore the concentrations of dinoprostone in the remainder suppositories were determined after induction and the relationship between the dosage and the rate of successful induction was analyzed. RESULTS The rate of vaginal delivery within 24 h was significantly different between controlled-release dinoprostone and oxytocin (P<0.05) but the RESULTS of newborns were not significantly different. There exsisted exponential relationship between the concentration of dinoprostone and the retention time of the suppositories in the vagina. CONCLUSION The controlled-release dinoprostone vaginal suppositories have better therapeutic effect in induction. But prolonging the time of use the medicine can not significantly change the result of induction.
