Abstract��
OBJECTIVE: To develop an assay for the quantitative determination of erythromycin tablet in its dissolution test. METHODS: Xanthydrol colorimetry was used for the quantitative determination of erythromycin tablet in its dissolution test.It was compared with the original methods in pharmacopoeia.The influence of xanthydrol reagent concentration,reaction temperature and time and cooling method were also discusssed. RESULTS: The linear range was over 90.949��181.898 unit/ml with the correlation coefficient 0.9997.The recoveries of erythromycin and its tablet were 99.86% and 100.05%,respectively. CONCLUSION: The new method showed more accurate and precise than the original one.
