Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the antibacterial activity of domestic meropenem and other five antimicrobial agents against 200 clinical isolates in vitro.METHODS The MICs were determined by agar dilution method.RESULTS The domestic meropenem (MEPM-1) had similar antimicrobial activity with meropenem imported (MEPM-2) and showed higher activity than imipenem/cilastatin against S.epidermidis and Pseudomonas spp.MEPM-1 was markedly active than ceftazidime against most isolates tested;moreover,S.aureus and enterococci were more sensitive to domestic meropenem than cefoperazone/sulbactam and ticarcillin/tazobactam.CONCLUSION MEPM-1 demonstrated similar antimicrobial activity and spectrum with MEPM2,slightly active than imipenem/Cilastatin and other -lactams combined with -lactamase inhibitors and showed significantly antimicrobial activity than ceftazidime
