Analysis of the Active Ingredient of the Leaves in Different Collecting Time of Acanthopanax senticosus and Acanthopanax sessiliflorus

OBJECTIVE To evaluata the optimum collecting time of Acanthopanax senticosus leaves and Acanthopanax sessiliflorus leaves, and compare the differences of hyperin, syringin and trace elements, in order to distinguish between the two similar species and discuss the disadvantages of confusion. METHODS The contents of hyperin and syringin were determined by HPLC, and the contents of trace elements were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The statistical analysis was performed with SPSS16.0 . RESULTS The content of hyperin and syringin in Acanthopanax senticosus leaves showed apparently higher than that in Acanthopanax sessiliflorus leaves. The highest contents of syringin reached 0.311 1% on June 21st and hyperin reached 0.686 8% on July 6th.The contents of trace elements in Acanthopanax sessiliflorus leaves were apparently higher than that in Acanthopanax senticosus leaves. The contents of iron reached the highest point on June 5th. The contents of manganese, zinc and copper reached the highest content on June 21st. CONCLUSION The optimum collecting time of Acanthopanax senticosus leaves is from June 21st to July 6th, while Acanthopanax sessiliflorus leaves is from June 5th to June 21st. The discrepancy of active ingredient between them are obvious, so that they are not suitable for being mixed. The Acanthopanax senticosus leaves are suitable for medicinal materials, and the Acanthopanax sessiliflorus leaves are suitable for food.
