OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of Stellera chamaejasme L. on postburn hypertrophic scar-derived fibrob-lasts.METHODS Hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts were harvested and cultured in vitro. The proliferation activity of the fibroblasts were examined by MTT method. The cellular morphology, proliferation activity and the cytotoxicity of the drug were observed after 24 h of culture. RESULTS The fibroblast morphology was altered by any concentration of Stellera chamaejasme L. solution.Furthermore, the cell counts and the cellular proliferation activity were decreased obviously by the treatment of Stellera chamaejasme L. CONCLUSION The cellular morphology and proliferation activity of postburn hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts are inhibited by Stellera chamaejasme L. in dose-dependent pattern, and it will be a potential agent for the prevention and treatment of hypertrophic scars.
