Study on effect of mixture of Serenoq repens and Echinacea purpurea against experimental prostatitis in rats

OBJECTIVE To study the effect of MSE (mixture of Serenoa repens and Echinacea purpurea)on experimental prostatitis in rats.METHODS The prostatitis models induced by Dispel piles injection and by croton oil in rats were treated with MSE 30,60,120 mg·kg-1·d-1, ig for 21 and 14 d, respectively.RESULTS The weight of prostate and the proliferation degree of prostatitis were obviously decreased , compared with model group (P< 0.05). CONCLUSION MSE could obviously inhibit experimental prostatitis in rats.
