OBJECTIVE: To search for the microscopical characters of Inula hupehensis and I .hefianthus-ayuatica used as traditional Chinese drug Jinfeicao in some districts of China. METHODS: Microscopical identification was carried out on the stems and leaves of above two species. RESULTS and CONCLUSION: The microscopical characteristics of two Inula herbs including stems and leaves were described in detail and illustrated with line-drawings. A key for microscopical identification of 5 Inula herbs named Jinfeicao in traditional Chinese medicine was also presented.
