Abstract:OBJECTIVE To develop an analytical method for rapid determination of adulterated proportion of Cistanche sinensis in the Cistanches Herba pieces. METHODS First, mixed sample was obtained by sample quartering from Cistanches Herba pieces. Based on the traits of the Cistanche sinensis pieces, some Cistanche sinensis pieces were partly picked out. Then, a high-performance liquid chromatography method for determination of poliumoside in the Cistanche sinensis was developed, and calculation formula of adulterated proportion was established by investigating relationship between the area of poliumoside and adulterated proportion. Finally, adulterated proportion could be calculated by putting the areas of poliumoside in mixed sample and some Cistanche sinensis pieces into the established formula. RESULTS Adulterated proportion of 3 samples were 18.3%,3.1% and 5.0%. CONCLUSION The method is efficient, accurate and sensitive, which can provide a basis for adulteration detection of Cistanches Herba pieces and other Chinese herbal pieces.
