Abstract: Objective To evaluate the impact of scenario simulation teaching on the training of pediatric internship for eight-year program medical students. Methods Sixty medical students were enrolled in the study. The month spend in pediatric department was divided into traditional teaching for two weeks and scenario simulation teaching for another two weeks. Electronic questionnaires and anonymous surveys were applied to all medical students, and then learning effects were compared. Results The response from 64.71% of students showed great interests on the scenario simulation method which improved the enthusiasm for learning. The results also showed that 58.82% of students acknowledged the great support to their training. Also,74.51% of students agreed that scenario simulation teaching promoted their clinical practice. However, the implementation of scenario simulation teaching often required students to spend more time. Conclusions Scenario simulation teaching can be used as an important assistant teaching mode in the process of pediatric internship training and it should be adopted in combination with the in spot training.
