Abstract: Calcium homeostasis of cardiomyocytes depends on the regulation of calcium(Ca2+) transportation through plasma membrane, sarco/endoplasmic reticulum(SR) and mitochondria. One of the main characteristics of heart failure is calcium homeostasis, including cytosolic calcium overload and SR calcium leakage, which leads to transient decrease of myocardial calcium and decrease of contractility.

Key words: calcium homeostasis, heart failure, calcium ATPase 2a, ryanodine receptor 2(RyR2)
